Voula Ampas has been a Toronto based Makeup artist for over 20 years has traveled extensively throughout the world painting beautiful faces. From models, musicians, the Oscars, and most recently the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, her eye for enhancing the beauty of a face has landed her the position of Diana Krall’s personal Makeup Artist since 2000.
Voula always drew details of faces and hair as a child, working on class plays in high school and of course, she loved Halloween! She started doing her friends Makeup for weddings when photographers began to recognize her skills, but she still decided to pursue a separate career. She went on to study marketing and eventually landed a job in advertising. She knew that ultimately this wasn’t her passion and realized that Makeup was something she could do full time, as a career. A friend owned a Makeup school and the rest was history.
Voula went on to work in the store as well as teach her craft at the school. After 18 months she left to help a friend open a new line of cosmetics, MAC. Although she was close with Frank and Frank, the then owners of MAC, she decided to make the switch to freelance work. She worked consistently for 2 years until she was approached by Ray Civello to become a part of his agency, Cloutier. Cloutier became Civello and eventually, The Artist Group was created and Voula followed.
With inspiring, creative idols including Allan Milroy and Pierre Tetro, her craft was formed and developed into what it is today. Voula has worked on many celebrities throughout her career including names such as Diana Krall, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono and Liv Tyler! “She has the most perfect skin and is a doll to work on!”
She is inspired to use her skills to help women open up to their personal beauty.
